Opportunities
The Armchair Astronaut exists because of a simple belief:
Space exploration should remain accessible, inspiring and personal.
For more than a decade, we have worked independently to help connect the public with astronauts, engineers, scientists and the wider space community through live events, educational outreach, school engagement and public discussion.
Many people see the final event: the astronaut on stage, the audience, the photographs, the stories.
What is less visible is the reality behind making these experiences possible.
International travel, venue costs, production, accommodation, student sponsorship, outreach initiatives, accessibility support and event operations all carry substantial financial and personal commitment.
Much of this has historically been absorbed privately, quietly and without public recognition.
This page exists for two reasons:
The Armchair Astronaut
There is often an assumption that projects connected to space exploration automatically receive institutional or corporate backing.
In reality, much of the work undertaken by The Armchair Astronaut™ remains independently funded and community-driven.
While many individuals and organisations kindly express support for our mission, meaningful operational sponsorship and financial assistance remain comparatively rare.
Yet despite this, we continue to:
We are proud of that.
At the same time, we believe it is important to be transparent about the level of commitment required to continue delivering these experiences responsibly and sustainably.

We've sponsored dozens of students to meet and speak with an Astronaut.

We've facilitated multiple private school visits including talks and workshops with a real Astronaut.

We partner with other organisations to facilitate Astronaut interactions.

Our work is recognised by the European Space Agency with access to interview Astronauts.
Meaningful sponsorship does not simply place a logo on an event.
It helps create opportunities.
It helps:
Most importantly, it helps ensure that these experiences remain available not only to institutions and corporations, but also to ordinary members of the public who may otherwise never have the opportunity to engage directly with the people who have lived and worked beyond Earth.
Every engagement is different and partnership arrangements are discussed individually based on the nature, scale, and objectives of the event.

We sponsor schools to visit the National Space Centre, and even accompany them for a tour.

Every partnership is approached collaboratively and tailored appropriately to the nature of the event, audience, and objectives involved.
