Welcome,

At The Armchair Astronaut, we connect audiences with real Astronauts through appearances, talks, and events across the UK & Europe. Whether for corporate functions, educational settings, or community gatherings, we bring the wonder of spaceflight down to Earth, delivering inspiring stories, rare insights, and powerful motivation.

What We Do:

  • Space-Themed Events & Socials: We organise special events featuring Astronaut guest speakers, exhibits, and social/networking opportunities.
  • Event Promotion & Calendar: We maintain a curated calendar of Astronaut and spaceflight events across the UK and Europe, helping enthusiasts and professionals stay informed of upcoming opportunities.
  • Astronaut Visits & Keynote Engagements: We coordinate Astronaut appearances for schools, businesses, conferences, and more. Their firsthand experiences provide a compelling blend of leadership lessons, teamwork anecdotes, and scientific perspective.
  • Educational & Outreach Support: We support schools and institutions in bringing space science, STEM, and future space careers to life through our educational outreach projects.

Our Mission:

To bridge the gap between the stars and everyday life: inspiring and educating by making Astronaut experiences accessible, engaging, and transformative. We strive to kindle curiosity about space, spark innovation, and empower people (of all ages and backgrounds) to pursue big dreams, on Earth and beyond.

As a small, family-run, not-for-profit organisation, we receive no public funding, sponsorship, or formal support, yet remain committed to creating space-related opportunities whenever possible, whether through promoting events, hosting events, supporting schools with trips to UK space attractions, or simply inspiring future space enthusiasts.

The Armchair Astronaut Space Community Partners

Collaboration Guidelines

At The Armchair Astronaut, we love working with other space-focused communities, creators and organisations who share our curiosity and enthusiasm for space. These guidelines set out how we collaborate; simply, openly and without unnecessary formality.

This isn’t a contract. It’s a shared understanding of how we work together.

🧭 1. Shared Purpose

We aim to collaborate with partners who value:

  • Curiosity & learning: Celebrating space exploration, science, and discovery.
  • Community & Inclusion: Welcoming people of all backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Accuracy & Integrity: Respecting facts, sources and responsible storytelling.
  • Collaboration over Competition: Supporting each other’s work and audiences.

We look to work with groups whose values align with curiosity, respect, openness, accuracy and encouragement of community engagement.

📣 2. What Collaboration Looks Like

Collaboration may include:

  • Mutual cross-promotion: sharing posts, newsletters, events and content through our respective channels.
  • Content swapping: guest posts, interviews, Q&A's or spotlight features.
  • Coordination around events: like mission launches, anniversaries, online watch-parties, etc.
  • Support for community projects that connect audiences in meaningful ways.

Partnership activities will always be decided by mutual agreement: no obligations unless we both agree, nothing is automatic or assumed.

📢 3. Cross-Promotion Basics

 When we promote you, we’ll:

  • Mention your group, event or project name.
  • Tag your social channels where appropriate.
  • Use accurate and respectful language.
  • Feature you on our website.
  • Link to our website where all events, opportunities and Space Community Partners receive equal attention.
  • Include you in quarterly newsletter sent to all our members.
  • Invite you to our events to showcase your benefits direct to new audiences (fees may apply).

In return, we hope you’ll:

  • Share The Armchair Astronaut in ways that fit your community (e.g., social posts, newsletter shout-outs, event mentions).
  • Help raise awareness of our shared content or events.
  • Add us to your website.
  • Post about our events across your social media channels.
  • Attend our events (fees may apply).
  • Invite us to your events as guests or exhibitors.

Cross-promotion is always optional. We’ll agree at the start what’s being shared, where and when.

🤲 4. Content & Conduct

We support:

✔ Enthusiastic, inclusive language, accurate and respectful.
    ✔ Respect for scientific accuracy.
    ✔ Community-focused benefits and accessibility.

     ✔ Protecting brand identity.

We don’t participate in:

❌ Hate speech, exclusion or harassment.
    ❌ Misinformation or harmful content.
    ❌ Political campaigning (broadly defined).

If content from either side veers into problematic territory, we’ll talk about it and work it out with respect.

🗓 5. How We’ll Work Together

  1. Chat it through first.
We’ll talk about what we each want to do and get aligned.
  2. Agree on a simple plan.
This can be just a few bullet points: what we’ll promote, how it’ll look and target dates.
  3. Keep each other in the loop.
If plans change, we’ll let each other know as early as possible.
  4. Check in afterward.
A quick message about how it went helps us improve future collabs!

📬 6. Communication

We typically communicate by:

  • Email

We respond within a reasonable time frame (usually within 1–7 days). If you need faster replies, just let us know!

⚖️ 7. Transparency & Respect

We aim for:

  • Transparency about expectation.
  • Honest feedback.
  • Respectful language and behaviour.

If there’s ever a misunderstanding, we’ll address it directly, calmly and in good faith.

🛑 8. Ending or Pausing Collaboration

Either side can:

  • Pause or stop collaboration at any time.
  • Ask for changes.
  • Suggest new directions.

We just ask for a courtesy notice so we can wrap things up professionally.

🌍 A Shared Mission

This isn’t a contract. This is a guiding framework for friendly, effective collaboration. Ultimately, we’re here to build community, share passion for space and help each other thrive.

Our collaborations are built on trust, enthusiasm and a shared love of space. By working together, we aim to grow our communities, amplify great work and make space more accessible to everyone.
